Oral Presentation

English I: Assignment Two

The second assignment of English I is about Oral Presentation. In groups of 5, students are required to choose a topic from the 7 wonders in the world. My group had chosen to do the topic about The Great Wall of China. From this topic, the 5 of us was also divided into little groups, that is the historical background, materials, ornaments, and structure and layout.

Reflection
After doing this project, I realized that doing an oral presentation is a very good experience because it helped me understand more of what my information and that trying to convey a message through speaking is very informative. Sometimes, it's not a whole piece of essay that shows the important notes, but rather picking up key words and emphasizing on them. Also, organizing information is important too, as trying to link information the right way helps convey the information more clearly.

Representing Nature: The Habitat Info Graphic Exhibition Booth

Elements in Natural and Built Environment: Project One

This was the very first project for ENBE, and it was a big project. It was 20% group work and 10% idividual work, and the aim of this project was not only to experience nature but to create awareness of the elements in natural and built environment. There were several parts of this project.

Part One - Site Visit

We started out the project by going to a site visit trip on 29th of February to 2nd of March in Janda Baik, Pahang. In this trip we were supposed to explore the nature and observed to collect information that were useful for the next parts of the project. We made use of our five senses to make observations for self experiences. We also did record the surroundings and activities around us during the trip. Other than that, we had to choose a site that was 10m x 10m so that we could make more detailed observations on our site.

Part Two - The Documentary Video

While we were on the trip, we were supposed to be taking videos on our site, or around the resort. This video should include an introduction about our site and also the project, the five senses of the students as being an experience, some interesting visuals on the site, and an awareness message to conclude the video. My team had started out our video with a theme, and that was like a skit, called "Dora the Explorers".

Part Three - The Info Graphic Exhibition Booth

From the findings and informations from our site, we were to make an info graphic exhibition booth for the whole group, whether it could be boards or even 3D models!! Even though this was a group work, each students still got their individual parts of information to be complied onto the exhibition booth. This was the most tiring and exhausting moment of the project as all the students achieved for something beyond plain good and had to stay back late in the studio for completion. This booth should include the introduction of the project, a topic to represent the booth, a representation of the site in Janda Baik, and the habitat and characteristics of different species found on site.

Part Four - The Scrapbook Journal

The final part of the project required students to create and design their own individual scrapbook, describing the 5 senses that excites the students, their understanding about nature, personal thought of the trip, and to have a compulsory explaination about one plant and one animal species. The scrapbook was all about the trip, so students could treat the scrapbook like a journal of living with the nature.

Reflection:
After this project, I realized that getting close to nature was a very precious moment to share to everyone and I highly encourage people to do it, without destroying nature. Even though we had to create a booth similar to nature, it still couldn't be compared with the real nature provided to us. We should take time to appreciate nature and promote nature so that it can stay with us, our next generations, and forever.

TJ03: 5 Senses and The City

Elements in Natural and Built Environment: The Journal Three

In this journal we were supposed to pay a visit to Kuala Lumpur, in order to record the 5 senses we experienced in the city. Other than explaining about the 5 senses, we should also include a brief explanation of the city and a small part of conclusion.

Reflection:
This project I learned that being observant is an important because every little details count. Through the site visit I also realized that observing all these little 5 senses is a good way train yourself to focus into something.
